Hope in Action: September 2025 Community Highlights

Unity in Community: Building Trust with Families

We began the month with Unity in Community Day alongside the 35th Police District. More than 120 neighbors came together for an afternoon filled with laughter, resources, and connection. This event was about more than distributing supplies; it was about creating a space where residents felt seen, respected, and valued by both their community and local law enforcement. Families left with essentials in hand and a renewed sense of trust and belonging.

Meeting Essential Needs with Dignity

Throughout September, Samaritan Place hosted food distributions at Belfield Recreation Center, Steel Middle School, and New Hope Outreach Center, serving more than 275 families.

Neighbors received:

  • Fresh groceries

  • Toiletries

  • Household essentials

For many, these events eased the heavy burden of daily expenses. Parents expressed gratitude not only for the items provided but also for the care and compassion they experienced while receiving them.

Germantown Community Day: Joy as Healing

On September 13, the Men Who Care of Germantown Community Day brought 150 neighbors together for food, music, and fellowship. The event celebrated the resilience of the community and reminded us that healing is not only about services but also about joy, laughter, and time spent together.

Breaking Barriers to Health Care

On September 17, Wellness Wednesdays with Courage Medicine brought health screenings and resources directly to the Kensington neighborhood. Many neighbors who often go without care received blood pressure checks, health education, and guidance in a welcoming, judgment-free environment. The event reflected our ongoing commitment to making wellness accessible to everyone.

As we look ahead, Samaritan Place remains committed to deepening partnerships, expanding outreach, and continuing to uplift every family we serve. Together, we are building a stronger, healthier, and more connected community—one act of kindness at a time.
